Ranthambore National Park - The Tiger Forest In India

Ranthambore National Park Beautiful Evening Snapshot
Hello Readers,

For the last two months I have been touring all around the Indian subcontinent like a nomad and have explored the interesting Indian cities of Bareilly, Sawai Madhopur, New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru (Bangalore). During my voyage, I was able to explore so many insanely amazing places that a travel freak must visit once in his lifetime.

Friends, Ranthambore National Park is one of the most splendid Indian destinations that I would definitely recommend a travel enthusiast to explore. This National Park is popularly known for its diversified wildlife and especially the tigers that are considerably one of the wildest beasts on this planet.

How to reach Ranthambore National Park?

Ranthambore Tiger Sanctuary is located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan province and getting here is not at all a big deal for both the foreign as well as the Indian travellers. The nearest international airport is the Sanganer Airport, Jaipur and via road transfer it just takes 3 hours to cover the 161 kilometres distance between Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur. Moreover, you can also reach Sawai Madhopur from Jaipur by train. Check for the availability of trains between Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur here (Type Source station Jaipur and destination station Sawai Madhopur and then select the ticket class as per your convenience).

What fascinated me?

Ranthambore Tiger Santuary Pond - One of the places where tigers come to drink water
It was my third visit to Ranthambore National Park and like always, it drove my attention again with its magnificent flora and fauna. To highlight, this tiger reserve is a buoyant abode of  more than 40 Indian tigers. This time, I was in zone 4 and a tiger named T-25 is what I came across. The oops! moment got weirder when the distance between me and the tiger male was just 25 feet. Thanks to almighty God! I was sitting in a Jeep otherwise, I could have been a tasty fleshy cuisine for that giant Tiger monster.

Ranthambore National Park - Zone Distribution

This adventurous tiger reserve has 10 zones in total and either of these zones can be alloted by the Dept. of Forest (Govt. of India) before your safari vehicle leaves for the jungle safari from the Sawai Madhopur ticket counter. Earlier there were 8 zones in total but recently the authorities have added 2 more zones. I personally would recommend you visiting Zone 2, 4 and 10 as these usually account for maximum tiger sightings. I am not being biased, other zones too have equal possiblities of tiger sightings as everything depends on the movement of the tiger. Rest, you can confirm from the forest officers about the current tiger sightings.

When in jungle, don't limit your enjoyment only to the tigers as you can also experience the sightings of various other speicies such as Leapords, Sloth Bears, Spotted Deers, Sambhar Deers, Indian Gazelle, Blue Bull (Nilgai), Langur Monkey, Crocodiles and many more.

What's the entry price?

The safari inside the jungle is carried out only through the officially available 20 seater Canter or a 6 seater Jeep. A canter per passenger would cost you INR 700 - 800 while an entire Jeep for 6 passengers is available in the range of INR 4400 - 5000. No personal vehicle is allowed inside the forest therefore plan accordingly.

NOTE - The ideal safari season to maximize the tiger sighting chances is between April - June.
